Why all the fuss?

As unlikely as it may seem, Eileen will soon turn 50, beating many of us to the half century mark. The dread of the approaching birthday has been the subject of conversation for some time. Now that it is here, she still looks great and despite the normal wear and tear, such as eyesight, she remains remarkably intact.

To make this a memorable time, I am asking her many friends and family to post comments about her life and friendship and of course to encourage her into the next 50.

So, please log in, (sorry it requires a user name and password), and leave her with what ever comments you care to share, or email comments to: mappleget.eileenis50@blogger.com. Automatically your email will be published to this site along with any attachments such as pictures.

Thanks, Mark

Hi Eileen,
What fun it is to have this blog for your birthday...you have such a great husband! It is also great to read all of the amazing things that people have said about you...all of which are true. Except the one from our dear brother, that is, who feared you might get a big head...(I know you're reading this Butch)...where did he find that song...it was hilarious. Anyway, I really can't believe that you are going to be 50!! How can that be?? You don't look or act anywhere near that. You know I started wondering how Mom and Dad must feel having 6 children 50 or above and only one (that would be me) still in their fourties...not to rub it in or anything. In fact, I know that when I see you this weekend people will have to ask which one is 50 (unless they look at my skunk roots that is then they'll think its me for sure!!). Seriously though, it is such a blessing to have you as my sister...you have been my best friend, my confidant, my encourager through so many things. And the best part is that our lives have taken a similar course in that we both have small children that will get to grow up together, have husbands who get along great and the opportunity to experience many things together as families. It is what we always dreamed of and now it is here...I pray that we will always nuture our relationship and grow old with a lifetime of memories to look back on and be thankful for. And like so many people have already said ( which you will have to scream at me in a few years), 50 is only a number and be thankful that you have another birthday because we all know what the alternative is. So thank God and rejoice for another year, family, good health, good friends and a great lil sis! I love you and Happy Birthday! Can't wait for this weekend.
Darlene
